8 New Michelin Stars Awarded to New York Restaurants
The Michelin Guide recently awarded new Michelin stars for 2023. New York City has over 25,000 restaurants serving 8 million inhabitants and is home to over 400 Michelin-star restaurants. Eight restaurants across the city received their first one-star rating this year while two were elevated from one to two stars. Michelin stars are highly prestigious awards given to restaurants by the Michelin Guide, which is published by the French tire company, Michelin. Since the first guide was published in 1889, the award has been synonymous with fine dining and culinary excellence. Restaurants are awarded one, two, or three stars based on the quality of their food, service, and overall experience. New York has four three-star Michelin restaurants, two of them (Per Se and Masa) are located on the Upper West Side. The UWS Essential by Christophe was one of the newcomers to get a one-star rating this year.
