Wollman Rink

Wollman Rink is an outdoor ice skating destination located in the southeastern corner of Central Park. Opened in 1950 and named after philanthropist Kate Wollman, whose generous donation funded its construction, the rink has become a wintertime tradition for New Yorkers and visitors alike.

Spanning nearly three-quarters of an acre, Wollman Rink offers a picturesque setting with sweeping views of the city skyline—especially dramatic after dark—and provides skate rentals, lessons, and refreshments for guests. The rink operates from late October to early April and has hosted millions of skaters since its debut, with attendance numbers reflecting its enduring popularity.

Beyond winter skating, the site has also served as a seasonal amusement park and, more recently, as a venue for pickleball courts in the warmer months. With its storied history, scenic location, and vibrant atmosphere, Wollman Rink remains a quintessential New York City experience.
