Toll Family Playground
Toll Family Playground, situated just inside Central Park West near the Mariners’ Gate entrance at West 85th Street, is a thoughtfully designed space for young children and their families. Reconstructed by the Central Park Conservancy in 2016, the playground is tailored for preschoolers, offering a dynamic mix of imaginative and active play features—including climbers, swings, tunnels, slides, spinners, and spring toys—in a bright, open layout.
Notable highlights include two small playhouses inspired by classic Central Park structures, enhanced water play, and a variety of manipulative and sand play areas. The playground is fully accessible, with an ADA-compliant entrance path and an accessible swing among its amenities. The surrounding landscape has been restored to blend with the park’s natural beauty, and the perimeter is defined by welcoming benches and a mesh fence screened by plantings.
Located at the base of Summit Rock, Central Park’s highest natural point, Toll Family Playground provides a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for children ages 2 to 5, making it a favorite destination for Upper West Side families. centralparknyc.org
