Little Engine Playground

Little Engine Playground is a thoughtfully designed play area within Riverside Park that emphasizes accessibility and inclusivity for all children. The playground features mobility transfer systems, sensory-friendly spaces, and companion seating, making it welcoming for children with diverse needs, including those with autism spectrum disorders or sensory impairments. Ground-level play features and multi-sensory experiences—auditory, tactile, and visual—promote joyful, interactive play. While there are no restrooms or accessible swings, the park’s inclusive design, open play spaces, and supportive seating create a safe, engaging environment for families and children to enjoy throughout the year. The playground operates with seasonal hours, open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (November–March) and until 9:00 p.m. (March–October).. riversideparknyc.org
