Joan of Arc Park

Joan of Arc Park is a serene stretch of green along Riverside Drive between West 91st and 95th Streets on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. At its heart stands the historic Joan of Arc Memorial, a bronze equestrian statue created by Anna Hyatt Huntington and dedicated in 1915. The monument honors the courage and legacy of the French heroine and saint, Jeanne d’Arc, and is remarkable for being one of the first public statues in New York City to depict a real woman.

The statue sits atop a granite base designed by John van Pelt, which incorporates limestone blocks from the French tower where Joan was imprisoned. Surrounded by mature trees and quiet pathways, the park offers a retreat for strolling, reflection, and appreciation of both art and history. Recently restored to its former glory through community and nonprofit efforts, Joan of Arc Park remains a local landmark and a tribute to resilience and inspiration in the heart of the Upper West Side. nycgovparks.org
