DiMenna Children’s History Museum
The DiMenna Children’s History Museum, located on the lower level of the New-York Historical Society is a interactive space designed especially for children ages 8–13 and their families. As the first history museum in the U.S. created specifically for kids, it brings 350 years of New York and American history to life through engaging, character-based pavilions, hands-on exhibits, and digital games. Young visitors can become “history detectives,” exploring artifacts, participating in scavenger hunts, and delving into stories from the past in the Barbara K. Lipman Children’s History Library.
The museum’s programming includes living history events, storytelling sessions, and special activities like History Detective Briefcases, making it a destination for families eager to connect with the nation’s past, present, and future in a fun, educational environment. Admission to the DiMenna is included with entry to the New-York Historical Society, welcoming families to explore history together. Located at 170 Central Park West at 77th Street. 212.873.3400 nyhistory.org
