Bloomingdale Playground
Bloomingdale Playground, is a vibrant and inclusive community space with a rich history. Originally opened in 1962 and renamed in 1997 to honor the area’s Dutch heritage, the playground has undergone several major renovations, most recently as part of the city’s Community Parks Initiative. Today, Bloomingdale Playground features accessible basketball courts, a synthetic turf field, adult fitness equipment, and expanded play areas with modern equipment for children ages 2–5 and 5–12.
The playground is intentionally designed to be inclusive, enabling children of all abilities and disabilities to play together. Features like an elevated, wheelchair-accessible play structure, spray showers, interactive art walls, and safety surfacing ensure that everyone can participate fully. The park also includes benches, improved paths, and a renovated comfort station, making it a welcoming destination. Bloomingdale Playground stands as a model for accessible, community-centered play in New York City. Located at Amsterdam & 104th Street. nycgovparks.org
