Anibal Aviles Playground
Anibal Aviles Playground is a neighborhood park located on the north side of West 108th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues in Manhattan Valley, just south of Morningside Heights. Named in honor of Anibal Aviles (1947–1966), a gifted local athlete who enlisted in the Marines and was killed in action in the Vietnam war. The playground has long served as a cherished community space for local families and children. Though compact in size, it offers a safe and lively environment for recreation and play, and is set to undergo a significant renovation to further enhance its facilities and accessibility for the neighborhood. Playground contains modular play equipment, swings, benches, wide open play area and a flagpole with a yardarm. Located at 108th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Ave. nycgovparks.org
